We regret to inform you that, due to the excessive rain earlier in the week, HFL is cancelled for 2/6. WE WILL RESCHEDULE, so please stay tuned. HFL is a Coed Hat Tournament held in honor of a former teammate and friend to Houston Ultimate, Laura Powell Higgins. Laura was a prominent ultimate player who gave much to the growth of the sport in Houston and Texas. In December of 2002, she was murdered leaving behind her husband and daughter. Since then, every HFL has been in her honor.

Congratulations to globetrotters for winning the competitive division and HIP for winning the recreational division in an exciting weekend of indoor ultimate.

After starting out as the bottom seed of their pool, HIP stomped through the competition in the rec division, meeting Rowan in the rec finals. HIP cruised through this game to earn themselves a spot in the comp division, and surprised some teams finishing third place overall. A truly stellar performance from the boys and girls on HIP.

Despite rolling through most of the the competition all day, globetrotters saw their second tie at the buzzer in an action packed finals game. Glorious Bastards came off to a slow start, scoreless for the majority of the first half. A second half rally saw the Bastards bring the game to ultimate point on a last second buzzer score. However, the top seed globetrotters pulled out the win in an exciting finish to top off the tourney - taking home some sweet ulty gear courtesy of FiveUltimate.

Last week (Dec 19th) was the last Saturday of games before the Christmas break. HUC Winter League players stepped up again this year in a huge way! The 2009-10 version of Winter League has 12 teams and over 230 hungry ultimate players. This season, our Winter League charity endeavor was to bring a little Holiday joy to kids in need via the US Marine Corps Toys For Tots program.
