All you need to know about the tournament on Saturday

Please expand to read entire message, it is rather lengthy.

*The tournament bracket is now available on the HUC website (see "tournament" under Winter League). Please note the schedule on the HUC website DOES NOT SHOW the correct seeding for the tournament. The sorting on the website is based on point differential but the seeding, when tied, is based on head to head results. Here is the seeding.

12,8,2,9,10,4,11,7,6,5,3,1

This is most important to teams 2 and 10. Team 2 gets a first round bye while team 10 must win to make it into the quarter finals.

*Don't let a low seeding discourage you. This is Winter League and anything can happen.

*There will be some bananas and peanut butter and jelly sandwich ingredients. If this is not going to be enough to get you through the finals please plan accordingly. We will also have water available, approximately 3 gallons per team. Not enough to take care of your needs for the day, just enough to refill for those of you who run out.

*There will be a portable toilet at the fields this Saturday.

*What ever lost and found items not picked up Saturday will be donated to the needy.

*This is your last chance to get your shirts and disc. What does not get picked up Saturday moring between 8:15 and 8:30 will be returned to HUC inventory.

*Only registered players will be allowed to participate in the tournament. People found playing that are not officially on a team will be asked to leave and any wins may be forfeited for that team.

*All games will end in time to watch the finals. Please plan on sticking around to watch, heckle and talk about how close your team was to making it into the finals.

*There is a good chance of significant rainfall this week. Since rescheduling is not an option due to upcoming tournaments we will most likely play regardless.

Rules:

*All games will be played by the UPA 11th edition rules. We don't expect new players to have the rules memorized but it is helpful to read through them. I encourage fouls and violations to be called and rules to be explained where appropriate. However when you do so please remember that not everyone has been playing for years so be nice about it!

*The most important aspect to the rules is the "Spirit of the Game". Learn it, Live it.

"Spirit of the Game. Ultimate relies upon a spirit of sportsmanship that places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of mutual respect among competitors, adherence to the agreed upon rules, or the basic joy of play. Protection of these vital elements serves to eliminate unsportsmanlike conduct from the Ultimate field. Such actions as taunting opposing players, dangerous aggression, belligerent intimidation, intentional infractions, or other 'win-at-all-costs' behavior are contrary to the Spirit of the Game and must be avoided by all players."

*Games are to 13, length is 1 hour and 20 minutes. Soft cap will sound at 1:05, hard cap at 1:15.

*Gender ratio is 7:0, 6:1, or 5:2. Offense dictates.

*There will be one time out per half plus a floater. Time outs will be permitted in the soft cap but must last no longer than 60 seconds. Time outs ARE NOT permitted in the hard cap.

Okay, I think that covers it. I hope everyone is excited about this weekend and is looking forward to winning the championship.

Any questions please let me know.
